Parrakeet

Parakeets, also known as budgerigars or budgies, are small, colorful parrots native to Australia. Their name originates from the aboriginal Yuwaalaraay word "budgery," meaning "good." These sociable and intelligent birds are popular as pets due to their playful nature and ability to mimic human speech. In the wild, they form large flocks and are known for their acrobatic flight and cheerful chatter. Additionally, their diverse plumage, ranging from vibrant blues and greens to subtle yellows and whites, adds to their appeal. Parakeets are also highly adaptable, able to thrive in a variety of habitats, from open grasslands to woodlands, and are considered one of the most widespread and successful bird species in Australia.
