"It's a little difficult to put into words the overall experience that I had while spending the day at "Rancho Costafalo!"

First, the hospitality and welcoming was humbling. There was an excellent lunch prepared that included Grilled Herb Chicken with Pico De Gallo (Black Beans) with a white rice and fresh plaintain chips along with a fresh salad and the infamous Rancho Costafalo Sauce. ( which has a little kick to it but some sweetness as well) This was paired with a Passion Fruit Lemonade. It was refreshing and the meal was authentic and flavorful.

Although the lunch was very good, I was distracted by the beautiful scenery. I was anxious to get started with the tour and to learn about the farm.

I love to garden as a hobby and know how much work is required. So, it was a joy to learn from Julio and John the overall layout of the farm and it's future plans for the farm. In addition, how Rancho Costafalo benefits many communities with free food that is grown on the farm which benefits families in their time of need!

Their farming systems are diverse, incorporating and preserving significant functional biodiversity within the farm. I only wish I was able to post my pictures because words doesn't give it justice. This was such an adventure and an escape. There was bananas, plaintains, limes, lemons, avocado's, pineapple, coconuts, coffee, loofahs, stringbeans, native plants, butterfly bushes, passion fruit. Too many things to name, just exquisitely done.... As we walked, we heard the howler monkeys, the white faced capuchin monkeys, the different type of birds and huge mammoth butterflies.

For me, this was not just a farm but a bit of Paradise! I will definitely be back to see all the new additions and to eat more great food.

Julio is truly passionate and a wealth of knowledge. He was thorough of each tree, plant and seed. They have a great team there. I was not able to stay overnight however I did visit the sleeping quarters and it was very nice, clean and modern.

JOHN, THANKS FOR THE EXPERIENCE!"

"I have recently had the great pleasure of being one of the first guests to enjoy a stay at the marvelous Rancho Costafalo – and what a wonderful experience it was! What impresses immediately upon the approach is the welcoming landscape and hosts, combining to instantly make one feel as though you are part of the ranch family. The ranch is located near the quaint town of Quebrada Grande in the foothills of the Cerro Cacao and adjacent to Guanacaste National Park, so even before one arrives, the pastoral scenery along the rolling drive induces a sense of serenity. Even though it was a fairly short stay the highlights of the visit are numerous, including authentic meals prepared in their outdoor wood stove featuring mouthwatering fare such as tamales, freshly made juice such as tamarindo and hyacinth juices, salads and stew, all featuring ingredients from the ranch – the original farm to table! Other highlights included guided hikes of the ranch consisting of varied terrain, and very diverse flora and fauna – wildlife is in abundance here and many firsts were achieved, such as seeing a collared anteater and many 'new to the list' birds. We were also treated to guided tours of nearby adventures, including the beautiful La Leona Waterfalls, and the otherworldly nature hike through Rincon de la Vieja National Park, the latter of which included a sighting of yet another bird first; the thicket tinamou! What stood out the most of course were the warm and friendly hosts, all of whom had a well demonstrated passion for the land and the wildlife, and importantly, treated us like family. Highly recommend this amazing place!"
